False Prophets

First of all lets see what the old testament has to say about false prophets. In Deuteronomy chapter thirteen we read.. “If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’—which you have not known—‘and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Amazing signs and workings of miracles can cause us to adhere to and follow the one affecting the signs and miracles. The false prophet will attempt to usurp the power and authority which belongs to Christ alone.

Technology can be a false prophet. As we see it evolving by leaps and bounds we are amazed! Some may even be tempted to believe that it can save us from evil. Think about it. If everyone were required to be identified with a fool proof implant or a chip, then what a wonderful place the world would be! Crime could be eliminated, terrorists weeded out, communities made safe. Gangs would be uprooted and abolished.

Make no mistake about it! No one or no thing or no technology can save us. Only by the blood of the lamb can we be saved. When we repent and trust in His finished work we are secured and made eternally safe. Jesus warns us in Matthew chapter seven to beware of false prophets.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them".
