Ever wonder why Jesus always called himself the Son of man? In the new testament Jesus is called The Son of David, The Son of Abraham, The Son of God, The Son of Adam, The Son of Joseph, and The Son of Mary. When referring to himself though, it was always The Son of man. He used this title no less than forty times.
The Son of David suggested legal relationship. The Son of Abraham had racial overtones. The Son of God was premature at this stage of His ministry. The Son of Adam was commensurate with sinful fallen man. The Son of Mary and Joseph assumed family relationship. The title, Son of man, suggests the true nature of His ministry... That all of humanity should hear the good news and have opportunity to repent and trust in HIM!
