Me First

In Matthew 8:21 a disciple of Jesus said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. While burying ones father is a good and noble thing, it should not be more important than following the Lord. In verse 22 Jesus said, follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. In other words someone who is spiritually dead is perfectly capable of performing the service of burying someone who is physically dead. A Christian should not be so distracted with the details of this life that they neglect the most important work of following Jesus and serving Him!
