Sins Are Forgiven

Jesus had just come into His own town. There was a man paralyzed and lying on a mat. When Jesus saw the faith of those who had brought the man He said " Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted."

What a joy when the burden of a sinful life is removed. We can be forgiven of our sins and the penalty for them can be discharged!

Jesus asked the unbelieving and evil scribes, "which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted, or to say, Get up and walk?" (AMP) Then He told the paralyzed man to get up and walk.

Which is easier? Is it easier to say your sins are forgiven or is it easier to heal a paralytic? Jesus' reasoning here is enlightening. Anyone could say that your sins are forgiven. Not anyone could actually heal a bed ridden invalid and send him walking to his home. But so that we would know that He (Jesus) is God and that He has the power to forgive sins, He told the man to " Pick up his sleeping pad and go to his own house." I want to be saved Click Here...

Demons Shriek And Scream!

Matthew 8:28-34...Demons were upset at the appearance of Jesus. They immediately wanted to know what He was doing there. They knew who He was. Their big concern was escaping torment. As long as they inhabited the poor soul wandering amongst the tombs, existing was tolerable. But now the Son of God shows up and their habitat is threatened.

We gain insight here into the spiritual realm. Demons shun the disembodied state. Their will is to inhabit people or animals. We also learn that their goal is to destroy.

Jesus has power over all demons. He forbade them to inhabit these poor souls any longer but allowed them to enter a herd of pigs feeding on the hillside which ran violently into the sea and drowned. The reasoning behind this is hard to understand but perhaps it was to keep the demons from entering other people.
