Jesus had just come into His own town. There was a man paralyzed and lying on a mat. When Jesus saw the faith of those who had brought the man He said " Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted."What a joy when the burden of a sinful life is removed. We can be forgiven of our sins and the penalty for them can be discharged!
Jesus asked the unbelieving and evil scribes, "which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven and the penalty remitted, or to say, Get up and walk?" (AMP) Then He told the paralyzed man to get up and walk.
Which is easier? Is it easier to say your sins are forgiven or is it easier to heal a paralytic? Jesus' reasoning here is enlightening. Anyone could say that your sins are forgiven. Not anyone could actually heal a bed ridden invalid and send him walking to his home. But so that we would know that He (Jesus) is God and that He has the power to forgive sins, He told the man to " Pick up his sleeping pad and go to his own house." I want to be saved Click Here...
