In Matthew 10:21 Jesus says that we will be hated by all for His name's sake, but he who perseveres and endures to the end will be saved [from spiritual disease and death in the world to come]. So there is a persevering and enduring experience that accompanies our Christian walk. In verse 38 Jesus says "He who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me". (AMP)
Taking up our cross simply means adhering to Jesus' teachings and obeying His words. Walking the walk is a yoke, but it's not too heavy and it fits well. As a matter of fact it can't even compare to the load we have to shoulder when we are not walking with Him. If the our burdens are too heavy, Jesus instructs us in Matthew 11:28 " Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [ I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] (AMP) Verse 29 tells us to take up His yoke... Take up His burden... Lay down our burdens... and we will find rest, relief, ease, refreshment, recreation and blessed quiet for our souls. (AMP)
